Happy new year...

…to all those who personally experienced how corruption and thievishness are more widespread in the Italian social fabric than what they expected;

to all those who felt disgusted in front of deceitfulness and hypocrisy, and faced the deep disappointment for trusting in people who actually only cared about their own interests;

to all those who were insulted, defamed, offended, without foundation and with no chance to reply;

…to all those who saw the basic principles and justice unashamedly being trampled on;

…to all those who saw the "smart" and dishonest ones winning out;

…to all those who experienced at first hands the corruption of institutions and saw that personal interests always prevail against the common good;

…to all those who only now realized that quality, professionalism and honesty don't matter much in this society;

…to all those who didn't sell their dignity and their values for the best offer, because they believe that those are more important than money and power;

…to all those who kept fighting for justice, in spite of the daily slaps they received;

…to the receded generation, which again in 2012 will have to make something up to go ahead, keep the hope, build itself a future and some expectations.

Happy new year sincerely to all those who, while we were facing many obstacles, stayed close to us and made us feel their support.

Happy new year to all those who in 2012 will want to keep believing in justice and in a better society, because I'm afraid for us it will be hard, really hard.

Definitions

The receded generation is made of people (men and women) who are in the 30-40 years age range. It is the generation which for biological reasons can offer the top productivity and psychophysical performance and therefore it is the most suited to fill responsibility roles in the society.

The receded generation is son of affluence: it had an untroubled childhood, grew up in great comfort, could commit full time to the studies, entered the job market quite late.

The receded generation, compared to the previous generations, is not developing but receding. Not only it can't emerge in the social fabric, but also it is the part of the population most affected by the economic crisis.

The receded generation is losing hope: it has little confidence in the future, it sees all its initiatives always destroyed and it is chained up in "system logics" which someone else created.

The receded generation is not evaluated for its merits, lives in a society and in an economic system strongly conditioned by "relationships", where most of the times networking means corruption and patronage.

The receded generation is made of young good researchers obliged to emigrate in order to do the job they love, of workers waiting for a flexibility which brings opportunities and not precariousness, of women often forced to choose between work and motherhood.

The receded generation is typically Italian, and it is son of the omnipotent generation.

The omnipotent generation constitutes the current governing class in Italy. It built the wealth of the country in the past decades and for this reason it holds an absolute power.

The omnipotent generation reserved for itself golden pensions to the detriment of the successive generations, created its own rules and defined its own ethics.

The omnipotent generation oppresses and controls the successive generations, manages their expectations and chokes the enthusiasm and the will to the take part in the social and political life.

The omnipotent generation considers the receded generation too "young" and "inexperienced", finds it unsuitable to understand the complex logics which it created and believes it is still not ready to fill responsibility roles.
